U9 and U11 Cross Country away at Hazelwood School

On Monday 25th September Mrs Pumphrey took 16 children to Hazelwood school for a cross country relay competition where we raced against approximately 10 other schools from the area, some even had two teams in each race.

Although the course was smaller than our cross country track it was made very challenging by the very steep hill we had to climb after running about 40 meters into the race. I think it proved to be a tough race for everyone.

The under nine girls went first with Gracie, Charlotte, Leah and Sienna. The girls had a tough race, but the amount of effort they put into this race was incredible.

Next up was the under nine boys team, where Charlie, Adam, Samuel and Isaac also fought a difficult race, but also applied an amazing amount of effort.

Competition remained high as we moved onto the under eleven races. The girls went first with a strong team of Aspen, Lea, Darcey and myself. Aspen ran a good final lap to finish us in 10th place out of 14 teams.

The under eleven boys represented by Ethan, Harry, Sam and Declan finished an excellent 8th after Declan managed to squeeze past another school on the finish line.

Overall the effort and sportsmanship was impeccable and everyone should be proud of themselves. We would also like to thank Mrs Pumphrey as without all her help and support we wouldn’t have been able to compete.
