Music

Welcome

In addition to the two music lessons that form part of the weekly curriculum, the children enjoy a range of musical opportunities on a daily, weekly and termly basis.

We are proud of our musical tradition at Oakhyrst and the standard and scope of the music played by many of our pupils. We offer a wide range of peripatetic music lessons with many of the children playing at least one musical instrument. These currently include instruction on: violin, piano, clarinet, guitar, trumpet, cornet, saxophone, trombone and baratone.   The children are encouraged to sit The Royal Associated Board of Music and Guild Hall examinations and by the time they leave Oakhyrst they have normally attained high grades on their chosen instrument(s).

In addition, our senior choir, which is made up of pupils in Year 3 and above and our various Ensembles regularly perform in end of term concerts and local music festivals.
