It was a pleasure to take ten excited year two children to the 11th Anniversary of the Virgo Fidelis KS1 Football Festival yesterday. For many of them it was their first competitive football experience and great fun was had by all. The atmosphere was fantastic with super support from all the teachers and parents present. The main focus of the event was to provide a safe and supportive environment as an introduction to competitive sport for our young sports performers. With a vast array of weather conditions including full sunshine and opposing snow showers the children continued to enjoy the football that they were playing. Our children all played in four games each against Virgo Fidelis, St. Christopher’s, Rosemead and Lingfield Notre Dame. Throughout the tournament our year two’s became more confident and their knowledge of the game improved. The sportsmanship displayed throughout all of the games was second to none. Each child received a participation certificate and left with tired legs but huge smiles on their faces. The behaviour of our Oakhyrst Grange pupils was brilliant and I was very proud to be the teacher attending with them. Many thanks go to the parents who supported with travel arrangements or during the tournament itself.
