On Wednesday 4th October Mrs Pumphrey took the Year 6 girls to a Netball
tournament at Epsom College. When we arrived our first match was against Hoe
Bridge. We flipped a coin it landed on heads meaning we got first centre pass.
They were very good competitors and they went on to win the tournament but I feel
for our first match we played well. We lost 7-0 but we remained positive. We went
into our next match wanting to redeem ourselves. We flipped the coin and won the
toss again. It was becoming our lucky coin. We were against Banstead Prep.
They were good players, but because of Tamsin and Clemmie’s goals, we squeezed
in a 2-1 win. After that we felt confident about the matches to come.
We won the toss against Finton House. The match was very hard, and we only
managed to score one goal. Our defence worked very hard the whole way through
the match, but we sadly lost 7-1. We really got into the match against Orchard
House. They were a hard team to face, with very strong players and good foot work. Again Tamsin and Clemmie scoring and the amazing passes between our girls we managed a draw of 2-2. It was our last match against Westbury House. We were fired and pumped ready to go but OH NO our lucky coin failed, losing that first centre pass. We had to shake it off, as it was important to finish on a high. Our team played extremely well and came out on top, winning 2-0.
The results were we won 2, lost 2 and drew 1 – and we came third in our group, just missing the semi finals. Overall, it was a brilliant tournament with the whole team playing very well. Finally, I would like to thanks Mrs Pumphrey for taking us and of course our lucky coin.
