Oakhyrst Grange’s U11 football team entertained Essendene at home on Wednesday 6th December for the final football match of the season. Unfortunately, it was not our day and we lost to a very well organised Essendene team. We started off slightly slowly in the first half and the opposition took full advantage of this, creating some fantastic chances, hitting the woodwork twice and scoring some very creative goals. At half time, our boys realised that they had to think carefully about their game and how we were going to be able to break down the opposition’s attacking plays. The boys effort levels increased greatly in the second half and we had far more attacking opportunities with the ball. We created some excellent passing combinations and worked hard to retrieve the ball when we lost possession. Throughout the game, all of our players developed in confidence and our communication out on the pitch became stronger and stronger.
A friendly and enjoyable match tea afterwards enabled both sets of players to socialise together and talk about the game, that had just been played. Well done boys, thank you for working hard and supporting each other throughout the game.
