On Wednesday 17th January Oakhyrst Grange U10 played Essendene at home. It was a sunny but very cold day and we started warming up while the Year 6 played their match.
When it came to the year 5 game we really wanted to win. As the year 5 match kicked off Oakhyrst got off to a good start, we were all over Essendene then I scored to make it 1-0 to us.
Essendene tried to get back by attacking hard but we were solid at the back with George, Ethan and Joseph defending well. Then, just at the end of the first half we scored to make it 2-0 with Daniel scoring a beauty of a goal.
At half time Miss Dance advised for the left midfield and the right midfield to stay wide because Essendene was playing narrow. We took this on board and started the second half passing well.
The second half was under way and Essendene’s heads started to drop, mid way through Edward set up a through ball to me and I took the opportunity and scored to make it 3-0!
The score ended 3-0 at fulltime. Victory for Oakhyrst!
It was a friendly and enjoyable match and afterwards all the players got together for a well earned hotdog and drink!
Well done to all the boys that played and working so hard as a team.
Thank you to Miss Dance for organising this football match and for coaching us.
