ISA U11 Netball Finals – Saturday 11th May 2019

Alexandra AS, Darcey B, Lana C, Lea G, Mathilda G, Estee N from Year 6 and Charlotte S from Year 5 travelled to York on Saturday 11th May for the ISA National Netball Finals. This was the biggest event for girls’ netball that the school has ever reached. A special mention must go to Charlotte S who stepped in at the last minute to make our  team to 7, she has been attending extra netball sessions outside of school to get in some extra practise.

We were drawn in to pool 1 with 4 other schools, our first 2 matches were very tough and we lost them both. The girls then quickly found their form and went on to win their next 2 matches and finished 3rd in their pool. We then went on to play for the bowl and disaster struck, poor Alexandra took a tumble and was unable to carry on (little did we know that she had broken her wrist) with Alexandra taken to hospital, the team was visibly shaken and it was no surprise that they lost this match. We played the next match with just 6 players and valiantly went on to win which placed us 3rd in the bowl tournament and we achieved a bronze medal.

I am so very, very proud of all of the team and even with a woman down they showed true Oakhyrst spirit. Thank you to all of the parents that made the long trip to York to support us.
