ISA London South Athletics Competition – Tuesday 4th June

34 children from Oakhyrst took part in the ISA London South Athletic competition in Bromley on Tuesday 4th June. We were hoping for a nice sunny day but as our coached pulled into the car park it started to rain. It rained on and off all day but we did not allow this to dampen our spirits.

The event started with the opening ceremony and Millie J proudly carried the Oakhyrst flag around the arena. The first events were the 600m and Estée N won the event and was through to the Nationals. This was followed by the sprint races and Lea G and Chloe B won a place in the Finals. The last sprint races were the 150m and both Aspen P and Darcey B achieved a silver and bronze medal. Whilst all the track events were taking place the field events were happening; Samuel M & Olivia S won a silver medal and Joseph f won a bronze medal in the long jump and Lea G went on to win the high jump and therefore achieved a place in the Nationals.

The day finished with the 4 x 100 relays and even though the year 6 boys won their heat they were sadly not the fastest in the competition. The year 6 girls did not disappoint and stormed to victory in a very convincing win and will therefore go through to the Nationals.

It was a brilliant day out with 21 schools competing. I am very proud of everyone who took part and whether you won a medal, achieved a place in the finals or got through to the nationals or not – Well Done!
