On Wednesday, the Year 5 and 6 girls football team travelled to Sidcup Rugby Club for a football tournament. It was the first time the tournament had been held, and in fact, it was the first time that many of the girls had played before! It was just a fun tournament and everyone was in very good spirits and very supportive of each other. The tournament was hosted by West Lodge School and there were 8 schools in total. Luckily the weather on Wednesday was much better than the day before but the supporters on the side-line did seem to look a little chilly at times! Our first match was against Rosemead, who were a very strong team and played extremely well. In the 2nd and 3rd matches, we learnt the lessons from our earlier games and managed to win the next one against West Lodge (thanks to a great goal from Gracie!) and then draw against St Olave’s. We were thrilled with both of those results. In the final round, we played Bronte, who managed to beat us so we ended up in 6th place overall. We were all really pleased with the result at our first tournament and delighted to see our progress throughout the afternoon. Here’s hoping there is another tournament soon!
Thanks to Mrs Pumphrey for her side-line coaching and to Miss Harrington for the coaching tips the week before.
