Following on from her successful solo swim across the North Channel, from Northern Ireland to Scotland (34th woman to make this crossing) Mrs Ashdown-Parkes took another trip across the English Channel this week.
Mrs Ashdown-Parkes swam in a relay team of four swimmers on Tuesday 21st September. Setting off at from Dover at 11:39pm, under a spectacular full harvest moon, swimming throughout the night on a big swell and bumpy sea.
A beautiful dawn brought calmer waters and a sunny morning.
13 hours and 52 minutes later Mrs Ashdown landed the swim for the team in France, on the rocks near La Pointe du Riden.
Less than 24hrs earlier Mrs Ashdown-Parkes had actually made another crossing to France. On this occasion she was crew and support swimmer for a lady from Kazakhstan. The swimmer battled strong currents and uncooperative tides through the night, landing at Calais harbour after a tense 16hrs 54mins, with Mrs Ashdown-Parkes escorting her in to touch French land.
