Our Mission & Ethos

At Oakhyrst Grange School, we believe that every child should be known, valued and inspired to achieve their full potential. Our mission is to provide an exceptional educational experience that nurtures academic excellence, personal growth and a lifelong love of learning within a warm and supportive community.

We are proud of our family-centred ethos, where strong relationships between pupils, staff and parents create an environment in which children feel safe, happy and confident. We recognise that every child is unique and strive to ensure that each individual is encouraged, challenged and celebrated for their achievements.

Our approach to education extends beyond the classroom. We seek to develop well-rounded young people who are curious, resilient, compassionate and prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the future. Through a broad curriculum, enriching co-curricular opportunities and a strong emphasis on character development, we help children discover their strengths and develop the confidence to pursue their ambitions.

Guided by our core values of kindness, respect, resilience, integrity and responsibility, we encourage our pupils to make a positive contribution to their school, their community and the wider world.

At Oakhyrst Grange, children are not only prepared for success at senior school—they are equipped with the skills, values and confidence to thrive throughout their lives.

Aims

  • To enable each child to fulfil their own academic and personal potential.
  • To instil in every child the importance of developing personal initiative and to foster in them a belief that they can fulfil their potential in any area of school life.
  • To provide a broad based academic and extra-curricular education that is delivered in such a way as to satisfy the learning needs of each and every pupil.
  • To help each pupil to develop both a set of values and an understanding and appreciation of other religious beliefs.
  • To learn the difference between right and wrong and to appreciate that rights and responsibilities are equally balanced.
  • To develop and promote a sense of caring and community between the pupils within the school and the wider community as a whole.
  • To instil in each pupil a high degree of self-respect and respect for their fellow pupils, teachers and other adults.
  • To prepare each child for the transition to the next stage of their education and to be able to take advantage of any opportunities as they present themselves.

Values

At Oakhyrst Grange, we are committed to nurturing a strong sense of belonging within a caring and inclusive community, where every child is known and is encouraged to demonstrate kindness, respect and consideration for others, both within school and beyond. Guided by our core values of Kindness, Independence, Resilience, Curiosity, Respect, Responsibility and Aspiration, we inspire pupils to develop confidence, integrity and compassion. These values underpin every aspect of school life, fostering self-belief, respect for others and a genuine love of learning, while preparing pupils to embrace the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities of the next stage of their education and beyond
