Year 6 It’s a Fish Out Swimming Competition – 5th March 2022

On Saturday 5th March, two Year 6 teams took part in “It’s A Fish Out” a lifesaving competition for primary schools in Surrey held at Dorking Leisure Centre.

Daisy, Claudia, Max and Antoine were in one team and Alexandra, Ava, Ciara and Calvin were in the other.

The activities consisted of rope throwing, straddle entries, a relay with head up swimming, ball throwing to a person in the water, questions on water safety, an underwater baton relay, treading water, sculling and lifting a brick out of the water by surface diving.

All of the children thoroughly enjoyed this helpful experience and had lots of fun too. It was a joy to see the children laughing and enjoying themselves once again.

Both teams did amazingly well finishing in 4th and 5th place. 10 schools took part providing 18 teams.

A very big thank you to Mr Burke and Mrs Ashdown-Parkes for accompanying the teams around the pool, as I was asked to be a judge at the event. And lastly a big thank you to the parents for supporting the children and coming to watch.
