About UsGovernance

The Governors of Oakhyrst Grange School play a vital role in supporting the strategic direction of the school, ensuring it remains true to its values while providing an exceptional education for every child.

Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, the Governors provide oversight, challenge and support across all aspects of school life. Their collective experience and expertise help ensure that Oakhyrst continues to deliver outstanding academic outcomes, exceptional pastoral care and a nurturing environment in which every child can flourish.

Following Oakhyrst Grange’s partnership with the Caterham Family of Schools in 2026, the school continues to benefit from strong governance, shared expertise and strategic collaboration, while retaining its unique identity, ethos and close-knit community.

The Role of the Governors

The Governors are responsible for the long-term success and sustainability of the school. Their key responsibilities include:

  • Setting the strategic vision and direction of the school.
  • Supporting and challenging the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensuring high standards of education, safeguarding and pupil welfare.
  • Overseeing the school’s financial sustainability and resources.
  • Monitoring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Upholding the school’s values, ethos and charitable objectives.

The day-to-day management of the school is delegated to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, allowing Governors to focus on governance, strategy and accountability.

Our Commitment

Everything the Governors do is centred on ensuring that Oakhyrst Grange remains a place where every child is known, heard and valued.

They are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence while supporting the school’s dedication to nurturing confident, kind and resilient young people. Working in partnership with staff, parents and the wider school community, the Governors help ensure that Oakhyrst continues to provide an inspiring education that prepares pupils for success at independent, grammar and maintained senior schools, and for life beyond the classroom.

Our Governing Body brings together individuals with expertise across education, finance, law, business, safeguarding and governance. Their diverse knowledge and shared commitment to the school’s vision provide invaluable support in guiding Oakhyrst Grange into the future.
