On Tuesday 8th March, Oakhyrst hosted the first hockey fixture of the term against St. David’s School. It was a mixed gender Years 3 and 4 game. We started off really well exploiting the space that was around us. We pressed well and had a few golden chances. Sadly the longer it went on, it looked like St. David’s were getting more into the game. It was a very equal game with both sides trying hard, but St. David’s just managed to creep in the first goal of the game.
Our heads didn’t drop. We carried on and on, but we were just outplayed in certain areas of the pitch. The end result was 4-0 to St. David’s School.
I must say, considering this would have been a first ever hockey match for many of the children, I am extremely pleased with the progression they are making.
Well done to everyone.
