On Tuesday 7th February, Year 5 and 6 boys travelled to the Olympic park for the ISA U11 Boys’ National Hockey Tournament
We started off well. We drew our first group match and after a few more group matches, we went into the play-off. The play-off match ended in a draw, so it was decided on penalty shuffles. You only have eight seconds to shoot with any number of strikes but it’s a one versus one against the goalkeeper.
It was the best out of three and the takers were Brodie, Joseph and me. I took the first penalty and I smashed the ball past the keeper. Next attempt was the opposition. Vincent, our goalkeeper, put his foot down and saved it!
We were now through to the finals! We drew 0-0 so it went to penalty shuffles again. Unfortunately, we lost in the final but we did enjoy the day and returned back with a silver medal each.
Thank you to Mr Steel and Mr Burke for coaching us.
