On Tuesday 14th November, Year 5 & 6 girls went to Lee Valley Sports Centre. It was an hour and a half journey and we carried our heavy bags to the shelters.
It was time for our first match and we were overjoyed and excited. We entered the pitch confidently. The match was tense, we didn’t manage to win against St Mary’s but the scores were very close. When we came off we were looking forward to our next match.
There were more matches and the scores were close, we won two matches which sent us to the knock-outs against St Bead’s. The result was nil-nil so it went to penalties. These were taken by Scarlett, Vivienne and Elissa. The opposition goals were defended by Millie. We won the penalties and that got us 3rd place. To our surprise we met Holly Hunt (who plays for the England Hockey Team). She signed our sticks, helmet and our ball which we have displayed at school.
This was an incredible experience and even though it was torrential rain we all came back with smiles on our faces and shiny bronze medals.
