On Tuesday 11th February 2025, seven schools from across the local area gathered for an exciting and challenging cross-country competition held for children in Years 3-6. With the course made even tougher by the cold, wet, and muddy conditions, all the runners showed great determination, battling through the mud to put in some fantastic performances. We had representatives from:
Banstead Prep School, Caterham School, Aberdour School, St Peter’s & St Paul’s School, Royal Russell School, and Cumnor House Girls School.
Oakhyrst Grange had an outstanding day, securing five medals across the four races. Each runner gave their best effort, pushing through the challenging conditions with resilience and teamwork. For those who didn’t quite make it to the podium still gave it their 100% and finished very respectably.
Year 4 medallists: Isabelle M (Gold) & Freddie F (Bronze)
Year 5 medallists: Bonnie B (Bronze) & Alec W (Gold)
Year 6 medallist: Vivienne L (Gold)
The overall winners of the event were Aberdour School, so a huge well done to their whole team.
A special mention goes to the Year 6 helpers, who were fantastic throughout the event, offering encouragement, marshalling the course, and ensuring the competition ran smoothly. Their support played a key role in the day’s success. A big thank you also to other Oakhyrst Grange staff who made this event possible.
Well done to all the runners for their hard work and determination – it was a truly great event and we look forward to running this again next year.
