Masterpiece of the Month at Oakhyrst and Art Participation Recognition from ISA

Children at Oakhyrst Grange School have all been very busy producing the most wonderful pieces of art since the return to school last September. To recognise their hard work, skill and imagination it was decided (from this year) that their creativity would be awarded with the Masterpiece of the month award.

Choosing one piece amongst all of the incredible artwork that has been created throughout January was a very difficult task. The children have been working on beautiful underwater pictures in year 1, celebratory ‘year of the tiger’ artwork in LKG and year 3, aboriginal art in year 5. However, it was a piece of art created by Surina R in year 4, inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, which caught my eye this month. The year 4 children were asked to create their own mixed media sunflower artwork using various cut out pieces from magazines, then adding to their artwork using pastels and pencils to add texture and shade.

Congratulation also goes to Daisy H in year 5 who received a participation certificate for her wonderful zero waste themed comic strip competition entry. Although Daisy wasn’t placed, her hard work, ideas and artwork was recognised by the ISA.
Well done to both Surina and Daisy and well done to all the children at school for the beautiful pieces of art they create during their lessons.
